Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus is seeking a Unit Secretary for Per Diem shifts (12-hour days, 7am–7pm). The role handles clerical duties on patient care units, transcribes orders, and coordinates transport and tests. Compensation is $22.00 per hour.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and experience with medical files and terminology. Per diem positions provide valuable orientation and opportunities for advancement within the hospital system.

Qualifications

• Experience with medical files and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical services to patient care units; transcribe orders; file reports; arrange transportation and follow-up tests.
• Answer phones, take and deliver messages.
• Maintain communication with the Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handle all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
• Order supplies from Materials Management as needed.
• Verify physician privileges prior to transcribing orders.
• Transcribe and flag orders from charts.
• Arrange transport of patients for tests not offered in the hospital.
