Job summary

Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo, HI is seeking a Nursing Unit Manager to lead daily nursing operations and ensure resident‑centered care.

You will collaborate with the Director of Nursing to drive clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement while supporting and developing a high‑performing nursing team in a respectful, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

Current, unrestricted RN license in Hawaii.
Leadership or supervisory experience in hospital, skilled nursing, or related setting.
Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and QA processes.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
English proficiency; compassionate elder care.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of nursing operations to ensure safe, high-quality resident care.
Supervise, coach, and support nursing staff through scheduling, performance management, training, and ongoing development.
Oversee resident assessments, care planning, physician orders, clinical documentation, and interdisciplinary care coordination.
Promote compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations, quality assurance standards, and survey readiness.
Monitor infection prevention, resident safety, and risk management practices while supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing on departmental planning, staffing, budgeting, policy development, and operational improvements.
