ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide assessment and interpretation of academic progression and develop appropriate success plans for students that are unsuccessful in course attemptsWork with students individually to navigate barriers and to develop plans for successMaintain current knowledge of the nursing program requirements program completion transfer partnerships and admission requirements for transfer programsTrack and follow up with referred students andor students who are not meeting minimum passing standardsConnect students to career work or skills based experiential learning activitiesDocument and monitor the academic progress of individual andor identified groups of nursing studentsWork with individual andor referred nursing students to establish a plan for successcompletion including study methods use of coping skills stress reduction time management organization and test taking strategiesCollaborate with nursing faculty and program director on opportunities for growth and potential areas for developmentCollaborate with RN to BSN transfer institutions and clinical partners to develop opportunities for career exploration through job shadowing informational interviewing and community and workforce engagementIncrease job readiness for students by building professional networks job tools and social media presenceParticipate in staff meetings review success data for special populations to inform academic and career advising interventionsProvide holistic individualgroup career and transfer information and develop electronic career and transfer resources to connect students with information for their post GRCC goalsDevelop academic career and transfer resources for classroom faculty when working with both prospective and current studentsCollect data and prepare andor assist with annual reports as needed ie departmental andor accreditation related reportsSupport GRCCs Strategic Plan through expected activities of employee development and business successOther duties as assigned to support student success and completion and departmental needs
JOB SPECIFICATIONSEducational CredentialsBachelors degree required BSN highly preferredDegree in Higher Education School Counseling Social Work or related field preferredCurrent Nursing License highly preferredWork Experience2 or more years in Career and Academic Advising preferred experience in working with Nursing programs OR 2 or more years in working with community college students andor adult learnersExperience with assessing student needs and identifying barriers to student successCreatebuild a supportive network for students to be successful in the nursing programExperience with creating successaction plans for studentsSkillsExcellent organizational skillsDemonstrate initiative and problem solving abilitiesMust possess excellent communication skills necessary to relate to others verbally andor in writingAbility to develop and deliver effective presentations
