Job summary

Intermountain Health in Grand Junction, CO seeks a nursing student with at least one medical/surgical rotation to join as a nurse resident in training. You will work under RN supervision to obtain licensure and transition into the next available resident cohort.

You will respond to call lights, assist with hygiene and nourishment, document vitals, and participate in patient education and care planning. Strong communication and infection prevention are essential.

Qualifications

• Nursing student in good standing with at least one medical/surgical rotation completed.
• BLS-HCP certification on hire or within 60 days with prior approval.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient care needs by answering call lights and assisting with hygiene and nourishment.
• Obtains vital signs and documents patient data; communicates with care team.
• Assists with catheter/nasogastric tube insertions, care, and removal.
• Performs secondary assessments alongside RN.
• Educates patients and families about disease, medications, and care plan.
• Assists nurses and physicians within scope and competency.
• Adheres to infection prevention standards and supports patient experience goals.
• Assists with transfers, admissions, and discharges per safe patient handling.
