Job summary

Intermountain Health in Denver, CO is seeking a nursing student who has completed at least one medical/surgical rotation and is pursuing RN licensure. Hired students will obtain licensure ASAP and transition to a new graduate nurse resident position when available, under direct RN supervision.

Responsibilities include patient care, vital signs, education for patients and families, and assisting with transfers and procedures. BLS-HCP certification is required by hire or within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Student in good standing in an accredited School of Nursing program, with at least one medical/surgical rotation completed.
• BLS-HCP Certification required at hire or within 60 days with prior approval.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient care needs by answering call lights and assisting with hygiene, nourishment, and vital signs.
• Assists with Foley catheter and nasogastric tube insertions, care, and removal.
• Checks and documents vitals, glucose, inputs/outputs with RN signature.
• Performs secondary assessments alongside the primary RN assessment.
• Educates patients and families about disease, medications, and care plan.
• Assists nurses and physicians within scope and competency.
• Adheres to infection prevention standards and supports patient experience goals.
• Assists with transfers, admissions, and discharges per safe patient handling principles.
