Job summary

Fairview Health Services, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Medical Center, West Bank, seeks a Nursing Station Technician to support patients, families and clinical staff on a rotating day/evening schedule.

The role requires BLS certification, completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant program (or equivalent) and at least six months of direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute setting. Eligible for voluntary Saturday shifts.

Qualifications

• OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
• Six months of direct care experience in long-term, home care or acute care setting.
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program and completion of one semester of clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Providing assistance to patients, visitors and providers, answering the telephone, prepping patient charts and maintaining the patient care unit main desk area
• Transporting patients and/or equipment
• Setting up, cleaning and maintaining patient rooms, cleaning equipment
• Ordering and stocking of supplies

This position will be working 48 hours every two weeks on the rotating day/evening shift with start times at 530am, 6am, 9am, and 12pm. These are all 8 hour shifts. This position works Monday through Friday. This has a voluntary Saturday shift about FTE available.

Job Duties

• Providing assistance to patients, visitors and providers, answering the telephone, prepping patient charts and maintaining the patient care unit main desk area
• Transporting patients and/or equipment
• Setting up, cleaning and maintaining patient rooms, cleaning equipment
• Ordering and stocking of supplies

Required

License/Certification/Registration

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants are required to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program

AND ONE Or More Of The Following

Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.

OR

Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)

OR

Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program

OR

Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
