Job Overview

M Health Fairview Health Services is looking for a Nursing Station Technician (CNA/HUC) at The University of Minnesota Medical Center-East Bank! This position is 0.80 FTE (64 hours per two weeks), 8-hour day shifts with an every-other-weekend rotation.

The starting pay is $22.50 per hour, with potential for higher pay based on experience.

About This Position

This role offers the opportunity to work across 15 different units at UMMC, providing diverse experiences in a dynamic healthcare environment. The university's medical center is a leading academic health system committed to breakthrough medicine and community health.

The NST is a hybrid role combining Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator duties, supporting patient care and administrative tasks under the supervision of a professional nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with patient care, transporting patients and equipment, maintaining rooms, managing supplies, and handling unit desk functions such as answering phones, processing admissions/discharges, transcribing orders, and managing patient charts.

Required Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training or another Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
• OR six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting (e.g., Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, ER Technician).
• OR current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program with at least one semester of clinical rotation completed.
• OR current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry (not required to be maintained if transferring to another nursing role).
