Job summary

CASTLEHILLS in San Antonio, TX seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in guiding licensed and non-licensed staff across a 24/7 operation. The ADON helps plan, develop, and supervise nursing services, while ensuring resident safety and dignity.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN, are in good standing with the State Board of Nursing, and bring 3–5 years of nurse management experience, preferably in long-term care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain continuing education/licensing requirements.
• 3-5 years of nurse management, preferably in a long term care facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist DON in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff.
• Develop and implement nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Recruit, hire and train nursing staff in collaboration with the DON.
• Assist DON with employee appraisals and disciplinary actions.
• Act as back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff.
• Provide direct resident care as needed.
• Oversee clinical operations, including daily rounds and resident monitoring.
• Ensure resident safety and respect for residents.
• Liaise with residents, family members and physicians.
• Attend or conduct staff meetings when DON is unavailable.
• Provide reports and recommendations to the DON on nursing services.
• Assist in designing, implementing and evaluating nursing systems.
