Job summary

PACS Group is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to support the Director of Nursing in directing licensed and non-licensed staff delivering 24/7 nursing care. The role emphasizes planning, supervision, and ensuring high-quality resident care across the facility.

The ADON will recruit, train, and supervise nursing staff, participate in appraisals, and act as back-up for the DON, RN and LVN teams while maintaining regulatory compliance and resident rights.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school.
• Registered/licensed with the State Board of Nursing; continuing education.
• 3–5 years of nurse management experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations and policies.
• Strong written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff activities.
• Assist in developing and implementing nursing services objectives, policies and procedures.
• Recruit, hire and train nursing staff with the DON; participate in appraisals.
• Serve as back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff; may provide direct resident care.
• Oversee clinical operations, daily rounds and resident condition monitoring.
• Ensure resident safety and respectful care; liaise with residents, families and physicians.
• Attend staff meetings or conduct them when the DON is unavailable.
• Provide reports and recommendations to the DON on nursing services operations.
• Assist in designing, implementing and evaluating nursing systems for consistent care.
• Coordinate ongoing nursing staff in-services; maintain resident rights confidentiality.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes and communicate them appropriately.
