Job summary

Northpointhc is seeking a Director of Nursing Services to oversee nursing operations for residents under physician orders and regulatory guidelines. The role ensures 24-hour supervision and high-quality care in a long-term care setting.

The incumbent will lead recruitment, training, policy implementation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with physicians, dietary, therapies, and social services to optimize resident outcomes and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the practicing state.
• Experience in nursing service administration, rehabilitation, psychiatric or geriatric nursing.
• One or more years of demonstrated ability in nursing administration and/or supervision in a health facility in the last 5 years.
• Strong understanding of skilled nursing standards of care, and federal and state regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care reimbursement rules.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply basic principles of nursing care and teaching.
• Leadership ability and capability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
• Interest and knowledge of current trends and developments in nursing and health administration.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and residents in a long-term care environment.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for coordinating plans for total resident care in line with physician orders and government regulations.
• Develops and maintains nursing service objectives and standards; writes job descriptions for nursing personnel.
• Recruits, hires, orients, trains, and dismisses nursing staff as needed.
• Controls nursing service hours and supply costs; plans nursing personnel mix and equipment needs.
• Participates in admission and discharge planning for residents.
• Communicates with doctors, residents, and family members about health status and care plans.
• Ensures adequate 24-hour nursing coverage and supervision.
• Maintains contact with physicians per resident needs and policies.
• Implements new policies and training for nurses; shares information with external providers as needed.
• Oversees quality assurance and continuous assessment of resident care.
