Job summary

The University of Maine School of Nursing seeks a full-time, tenure-track Associate/Full Professor to lead the development and implementation of New England’s first PhD program in Nursing as the principal investigator on the DOE grant.

The candidate will oversee curriculum alignment, recruit and mentor doctoral students, and build strategic partnerships with healthcare organizations while advancing the School’s research mission.

Qualifications

• Earned PhD in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Active, unrestricted RN license in Maine.
• Record of peer‑reviewed publications and presentations commensurate with associate/professor.
• Independent research program leadership.
• Experience mentoring PhD students through dissertation work.
• Track record of securing research funding.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate and undergraduate nursing courses as assigned.
• Provide academic leadership for PhD program development and implementation.
• Recruit and mentor doctoral students and develop partnerships with healthcare organizations.
• Develop and disseminate scholarship, grant proposals, and doctoral education initiatives.
• Participate in service to the School, University, and profession.
• Arrange and coordinate immersion experiences and program evaluation.
