Job summary

The University of Maine in Orono invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Associate/Full Professor to lead the new PhD program in Nursing funded by a Department of Education grant. Responsibilities include curriculum leadership, faculty mentoring, student recruitment, and program partnerships.

Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advancing scholarly work, and pursuing external funding will be emphasized beyond the DOE grant term.

Qualifications

• Earned PhD in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Active, unrestricted RN license in Maine.
• Record of peer‑reviewed publications and professional presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain an independent program of research.
• Experience mentoring PhD students.
• Demonstrated success pursuing or securing internal or external research funding.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership for Northern New England’s first PhD program in Nursing.
• Teach graduate and undergraduate nursing courses as assigned.
• Mentor doctoral students and support research development.
• Develop partnerships with healthcare organizations and other educators.
• Seek internal and external funding to support PhD students and program development.
• Serve on School and University committees.
