Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $68 - $74/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a OR for a temporary assignment in Hermiston, Oregon. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a OR:
- Accept responsibility for the direction, control, and planning of activities
- Make evaluations and decisions based on measurable or verifiable criteria
- Work independently as a perioperative registered nurse specializing in intraoperative surgical experience
- Protect the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal sources
- Perform accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items
- Perform interventions to ensure the patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level
- Manage patient specimens according to organizational policy and procedures
- Communicate the patient's status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care
- Administer medications safely and correctly
- Perform interventions to maintain the patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels
- Perform interventions to maintain the status of the patient's genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels
- Perform interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection
- Protect the patient's rights, dignity, and privacy
- Provide age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice
- Provide consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting
- Document nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly
- Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable
- Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members
- Maintain required competencies
- Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization
- Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information
- Participate in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position
- Float to other departments where qualified to perform patient care as needed
- Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure
- Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality
- Convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, grief, or trauma
- Relate to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation
- Communicate effectively and therapeutically with people from every socioeconomic background
- Incorporate service excellence in customer relations in daily activities
- Participate in on-call rotation for the Surgery Unit on a regularly scheduled basis
- Perform other related duties as assigned
