Job summary

Astrya Global Medical Staffing is seeking an OR nurse for a 13-week assignment in Gardner, Massachusetts, with extension potential. Pay rate is $62–$67 per hour, with weekly Fr iday payroll and comprehensive benefits through Astrya.

Qualifications

  • MA RN license must be maintained in Massachusetts.
  • ACLS certification required or obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Excellent communication and multitasking abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care per standards of care, protocols and policies.
  • Maintain sterile fields and instrument counts during procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and health-team members.
  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality and promote patient safety.
  • Document all data and patient responses timely and accurately.
  • Assist with discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
  • Safely administer medications and IV therapies as ordered.
  • Monitor pain levels, reassess, and notify physicians as needed.

Location: Gardner, Massachusetts
Schedule: 7:00AM - 5:00PM x 4
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $62 - $67/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a OR for a temporary assignment in Gardner, Massachusetts. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a OR:
  • Conduct interactions with everyone in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner
  • Go out of way to offer assistance to others or find someone who can assist
  • Advocate to ensure privacy and confidentiality while helping others maintain awareness
  • Maintain a clean and safe hospital environment
  • Respond appropriately and immediately in emergency situations
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and/or staff to provide the highest level of physical comfort and minimize risk and injury
  • Ensure compliance with regulations to maintain accreditation and licensure
  • Comply with Hospital Attendance and Tardiness Policy
  • Complete all Hospital and Department Specific Mandatory requirements
  • Report incidents in a timely and effective manner
  • Actively engage in the practice of, monitoring, and enforcing compliance with hand hygiene
  • Assess (and reassess), plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions/plans of care/patient goals
  • Provide patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures
  • Respect each patient as an individual and provide care that fosters the patient's sense of dignity and positive self-regard
  • Provide patient/family teaching based on identified learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning
  • Collaboratively plan and prepare patient/family for discharge incorporating support systems/resources as necessary
  • Appropriately delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others
  • Appropriately prioritize patient care and seek assistance as needed from appropriate resources
  • Provide thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses according to established standards
  • Provide timely and thorough report on assigned patients to other health care team members to ensure integration of services and continuity of patient care
  • Promote learning for colleagues and self by functioning as preceptor, instructor, or trainer and attending professional development programs
  • Proactively identify risk to patient safety and identify opportunities to reduce medical/health care errors
  • Identify ethical issues in care and develop a plan to address them
  • Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician's orders, protocols, policies, and procedures
  • Assess patient pain level upon admission and as necessary utilizing the numerical pain scale
  • Reassess effectiveness of pain control and notify physicians as needed, documenting assessment and patient responses to medication
  • Obtain supporting information and complete required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD
  • Collaborate with surgeon, anesthesiologist, clinical coordinator, and surgical technicians to assure patient well-being during surgical intervention
  • Maintain sterile fields and direct the correct care, handling, and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments
  • Identify patients correctly by checking patient identification bands and consent forms and verifying operative procedure and site before taking patients to the operating room
  • Apply principles of aseptic practice and oversee the selection and preparation of supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for all surgical cases
  • Apply principles of body mechanics and adapt them to various situations during positioning and transfer of patients
  • Assure that all techniques and practices carried out during the surgical procedure are accurate and reflect standards of perioperative practice
  • Maintain sponge, needle, and instrument counts according to policies and procedures, including notifying the surgeon of the results
  • Identify, label, care for, and handle all specimens and cultures according to established policy and procedure
  • Maintain current MA RN license
  • Maintain ACLS certification upon hire or obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire
  • Utilize excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, and maintain a can-do attitude
