Qualifications

• Must possess a current, unencumbered RN license in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin.
• Minimum of one (1) year nursing service administration experience.
• Must possess current CPR certificate or obtain within two weeks of employment.
• Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
• Must be able to read, write and speak the English language clearly.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Must be able to deal tactfully with customers, family, visitors, personnel, government agencies, and the public.
• Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and work well with staff.
• Must be personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop, direct and delegate the overall operation of the Nursing Department.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, and facility policies.
• Directly supervise and instruct nursing staff and maintain quality care.
• Identify problems and develop solutions with administration support.
• Develop and implement a nursing/rehab/restorative philosophy for residents.
• Ensure adequate staffing on all shifts and conduct daily rounds.
• Audit charts, EHR, labs and x-ray reports for accuracy and timeliness.
• Participate in care planning, admissions decisions and resident conferences.
• Attend department and quality meetings; participate in continuing education.
• Plan and manage department budgets and purchasing per policy.
