Job summary

Louisiana State Board of Nursing in Baton Rouge seeks a Compliance Investigator to protect public health by evaluating nurse licensure, student eligibility, and clinical progression, reporting to the Compliance Team Leader.

The incumbent will handle investigations with discretion, interview licensees, collect evidence, and prepare reports, while traveling regionally as needed and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR a bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Receives information regarding actions or omissions by licensees and others that may represent a violation of the Nurse Practice Act;
• Develops and initiates investigative plans; conducts comprehensive investigations through interviewing, securing evidence and information related to the matter under investigation, analyzing records, among other activities.
• Timely notifies respondents of allegations/information in accordance with statutory requirements and case law.
• Prepares clear and concise written reports of investigations and attaches pertinent records to support the investigative report.
• Closes investigations within the Priority or Complaints guideline.
• Travels and establishes relationships with employers, schools, nursing community, and others in assigned regions by conducting site visits during investigations as much as practicable
• Keeps Compliance Investigator 4B informed of issues and concerns within the area of responsibility.
• Utilizes the internal chain of command appropriately for communication purposes.
• Participates in performance improvement activities, continually improving all processes as opportunities for improvement arise.
• Works cooperatively as a member of the team, assisting and relieving other staff members as needed.
