Job summary

Walters State Community College – Morristown Campus seeks an Instructor of Nursing to develop and teach courses across classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings with emphasis on fundamentals and medical/surgical nursing. The instructor will collaborate with peers to design syllabi, materials, and assessments to support student clinical learning.

The position requires a Master’s in Nursing, at least three years of clinical experience, Tennessee nursing licensure (or licensure eligible), and

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
• Minimum of three years recent clinical experience.
• Current Tennessee nursing license or eligibility.
• Teaching experience with a group of individuals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach nursing courses in classroom/laboratory/clinical settings with emphasis on fundamentals and medical/surgical nursing.
• Prepare course syllabi, course materials, and examinations; collaborative teaching with peers.
• Participate in student curriculum development, advising, departmental and college committees, and accreditation activities.
• Evaluate student learning and maintain class records.
• Advise nursing and health program majors.
• Establish partnerships with clinical agencies for student clinical learning experiences.
• Establish and complete goals and objectives for the department.
• Assess educational outcome measures and complete academic reporting as required.
• Provide instruction in technology-enhanced class settings including online distance technology and simulation equipment.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
