Job Purpose:
The Nursing Instructor is responsible to the Dean of School of Nursing for the delivery of quality instruction and management of students enrolled in nursing courses in the Nursing Program. Responsibilities occur in the areas of instructional development, teaching performance, student advisement, professional development, college and/or community service, and instructional management.
Job Duties:
INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
1.Work with members of the Nursing Advisory Committee to participate in planning for new and existing programs and courses.
2.Assist in the development of nursing curricula for students in nursing programs.
3.Evaluate courses in the nursing curriculum.
4.Assist in the refinement of curricula for nursing courses.
TEACHING PERFORMANCE
1.Teach courses as assigned and in accordance with the established syllabi.
2.Provide high quality instruction for students in the nursing program using varied instructional delivery techniques including clinical rotations.
3.Evaluate the accomplishments of students on a regular basis.
4.Participate in the Faculty Performance Management System.
5.Achieve at least a 3.5 on student evaluations and satisfactory peer/supervisor evaluations.
STUDENT ADVISEMENT
1.Advise and maintain records of assigned student advisees in accordance with division policies and procedures.
2.Provide effective academic advisement for students enrolled in the Nursing Program by using the services of staff specialists and coordinators.
3.Maintain office hours as required and needed by students, faculty, and advisees.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
1.Represent the Division and College by participating in community and professional activities.
2.Participate in professional continuing education opportunities.
3.Maintain a current awareness of educational innovations and trends appropriate to nursing education.
COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICE
1.Actively participate in activities to select, recruit, admit, and retain students.
2.Maintain contacts with appropriate professional and community organizations/individuals in the College service area.
3.Serve actively on College committees.
4.Participate in Division of Health Sciences meetings as assigned.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
1.Maintain proper control and effective use of all physical facilities and supplies in the assigned division.
2.Prepare reports in cooperation with division dean for input into the planning/reporting system.
3.Insure communication of policies, procedures, and campus information to all students.
4..Perform additional duties, as assigned by the division dean and nursing program director.

Duties and Responsibilities Teaching Responsibilities Instruction including hands-on and theory, clinical management of students, and administrative tasks that may include reports, clinical documentation, and student evaluations. Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis. Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and progress. Direct supervision of students in a variety of clinical settings. Instructional Development Recommend for approval adequate instructional materials for course. Work with other areas of the college such as Tutoring, Retention, etc. to help ensure student success. Prepare reports in cooperation with Division Dean for input in planning/reporting system and/or for submission to the accrediting body of the College or program. Professional Development Attend relevant professional meetings. Represent the College positively in interactions with the community and with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels. Position Summary The Defensive Driving Instructor is responsible for delivering state-approved defensive driving courses, in cooperation with the South Carolina Technical College System, to diverse audiences, including court-referred participants, corporate clients, and the general public. The instructor promotes safe driving practices, reduces at-risk driving behaviors, and ensures compliance with South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) and other applicable regulations. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Training Deliver engaging, interactive defensive driving courses in accordance with South Carolina state guidelines and approved curriculum. Facilitate classroom training sessions for adult learners with varying levels of driving experience. Clearly explain traffic laws, risk prevention techniques, and safe driving strategies. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and participant needs. Compliance & Documentation Ensure all course content meets SCDMV and court-mandated requirements. Maintain accurate attendance records, completion certificates, and participant documentation. Adhere to all reporting requirements for court-referred or state-mandated participants. Protect confidentiality of participant records in compliance with applicable laws. Participant Engagement & Support Foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment. Address participant questions, concerns, and resistance professionally. Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, controlled training setting.
