Job summary
Covista in Houston, TX seeks an experienced nursing educator to shape the next generation of healthcare providers through classroom, online, and clinical settings, including flexible evening and weekend classes.
The role includes teaching, student evaluation, mentoring, course development, and engagement in service and scholarship aligned with our mission; requires master’s in nursing and active Texas licensure.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing required; PhD preferred where relevant.
- 2+ years nursing experience in clinical settings.
- Licensed or eligible for Texas nursing licensure.
- Strong communication, initiative, and judgment.
- Proficiency with LMS, simulation tech, and online platforms; familiarity with AI in education.
- Ability to create engaging learning environments and manage conflicts effectively.
- Collaborates with faculty, extended teams, and clinical partners.
- Emotional intelligence and inclusive teaching approach.
- Maintain regulatory credentials when applicable and comply with state requirements.
- Clinical teaching compliance and state addendum requirements where needed.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned nursing courses in classroom, online, clinical, and lab settings.
- Input to curriculum and teaching materials; continuously improve delivery.
- Evaluate student performance and provide remediation.
- Lead clinical learning activities to ensure practice readiness.
- Support students and new faculty with guidance and coaching.
- Engage in scholarly activities related to teaching and nursing practice.
- Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and professional development.
- Ensure adherence to policies on exams, assignments, and attendance.
