Job summary

Henry Ford College seeks a Nursing faculty member to teach in various modalities (in person, online, or hybrid) for majors and non‑majors. Responsibilities include curriculum development, course coordination, student advising, and program assessment, with service on college committees.

The candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Nursing, be a Michigan RN, and have at least two years of higher‑ed teaching experience, plus strong communication and technological teaching skills.

Qualifications

• Earned Master’s degree or higher in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
• Two years of full‑time teaching in higher education or equivalent.
• Clear and effective oral and written communication.
• Experience designing, organizing, and delivering learning experiences in classroom and/or laboratory settings.
• Experience using educational technology and online platforms for instruction.
• Understanding of the community college mission and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to keeping professional skills and knowledge up‑to‑date.
• Current unencumbered RN license from the State of Michigan.
• Three years of medical–surgical clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach 15 contact hours per week and provide at least 5 hours per week of student consultation.
• Prepare innovative and effective learning experiences across lectures, labs, and simulations.
• Coordinate courses within the discipline and assist with syllabus templates, instructors’ guides, textbooks, and resources.
• Incorporate instructional technology to enhance learning in classroom and lab settings.
• Share responsibility for developing learning experiences beyond the classroom and maintaining equipment.
• Ensure safety protocols and compliance in learning environments.
• Maintain current knowledge of the discipline and engage in ongoing professional development.
• Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership on curriculum development and program initiatives.
• Monitor student progress to ensure learning outcomes are met.
• Support student success by guiding resources and navigation of college services.
• Promote diversity and inclusion in all teaching and college activities.
• Participate in shared governance on committees and college initiatives.
• Adhere to policies and timelines across the program and department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
