Position

Adjunct Nursing Instructor – Part‑time, F‑PT, FLSA Exempt – Pay Grade Level F. Pay Range: $660–$857 per credit. Full‑time equivalent: 0.4. Campus: Iron Mountain, Michigan.

Summary

The faculty member is responsible for delivering instruction to practical and associate degree nursing students across clinical, laboratory, simulation, and hybrid or online settings. Instructors establish and promote an effective learning environment to maximize student learning, and may be assigned to introductory, general, or specialized courses as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Current Michigan Registered Nursing Licensure or eligibility for Michigan Licensure.
  • Three years of clinical nursing experience with strong clinical competency.
  • Ability to assist nursing students in clinical settings with patient care delivery.
  • Commitment to learner‑centered instruction and continual improvement of student success.
  • Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy.
  • Ability to provide diverse learning experiences to diverse student populations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with information technology and computer use.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nursing.
  • Clinical competency in two nursing specialties.
  • Experience with active and collaborative learning strategies.
  • Knowledge of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
  • Post‑secondary teaching experience in didactic, clinical, simulation, laboratory, or online courses.
  • Eligibility for dual licensure in Wisconsin (pending clinical placement).
  • Experience in diverse health care environments.
  • Flexibility and creativity in response to evolving health care trends.
  • Certification for online teaching.
Job Duties
  • Instruct nursing courses, including clinic, lab, and simulation.
  • Develop course syllabi outlining expectations, standards, policies, and learning objectives.
  • Design and deliver assessments of course and program outcomes.
  • Recognize and respond to diverse student learning styles and needs.
  • Create supplementary learning materials, resources, and technology.
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and required documentation.
  • Adhere to ethical standards of the college, the State of Michigan, the Higher Learning Commission, FERPA, and nursing profession regulations.
  • Provide a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Stay current with nursing developments through literature review, collegial discussion, and professional development.
  • Communicate professionally with students, colleagues, and stakeholders via telephone, email, video conference, mail, or face‑to‑face.
  • Collaborate with lab assistants, learning assistants, or student workers as needed.
  • Participate in professional activities such as curriculum planning, syllabus writing, examination development, textbook selection, program revision, online teaching certification, and outcome assessment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Hours worked per week: 12 (dependent on course schedule).
  • Supervision: General supervision of the Dean of Allied Health.
Physical Demands

Stand, walk, sit; use hands to manipulate objects and tools; reach and handle equipment; climb stairs; balance and stoop; lift or move up to 50 pounds. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision.
