Job summary
Galen College of Nursing is seeking a Faculty Development Specialist to strengthen teaching practices through onboarding, mentoring, classroom observations, coaching, and data‑informed support. You will collaborate with campus leadership to tailor faculty development that improves teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
Responsibilities include structured onboarding, ongoing coaching, observations across modalities, and delivering workshops and learning communities.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in nursing required.
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching in nursing education.
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, onboarding, or professional development preferred.
- Experience using classroom observations, student outcomes or feedback to guide faculty development is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing support for newly hired faculty.
- Coaches faculty teaching a course for the first time with proactive preparation and follow-up.
- Collaborates with academic leadership to identify faculty-development needs and coordinate timely support.
- Conducts faculty observations across modalities with emphasis on new or high-risk courses.
- Delivers constructive, actionable feedback and individualized coaching to strengthen teaching effectiveness.
