Job summary

Galen College of Nursing is seeking a Faculty Development Specialist to support teaching effectiveness and faculty growth. You will onboard new faculty, mentor those teaching for the first time, and deliver targeted coaching based on observations and data.

You will collaborate with campus leadership to tailor development programs, utilize evidence-based teaching practices, and promote student engagement across modalities.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required.
• Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in nursing education.
• Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential preferred. Experience with Canvas or a comparable learning management system required.

Responsibilities

• Onboard, mentor, and provide ongoing support for new faculty.
• Coach faculty teaching a course for the first time with follow-up.
• Identify development needs with academic leadership and coordinate support.
• Conduct faculty observations across modalities using approved tools.
• Provide actionable feedback to strengthen teaching and engagement.
• Offer individualized coaching to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
• Monitor progress and follow-up on recommendations.
