Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking an Advanced Nursing Extern to provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse at Baptist Medical Center South. The extern will assist with data collection, selected technical tasks, and lab specimen handling in alignment with licensure rules.

Requirements include a high school diploma, current enrollment in a nursing program, and completion of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Must have completed a MINIMUM of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration in Nursing School.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Support the nursing department with data collection and lab specimen collection.
• Perform selected technical skills as assigned.
• Adhere to scope of practice per Alabama Board of Nursing.
