Job summary

The Health Care Authority for Baptist Health, An Affiliate of UAB Health System is seeking an Advanced Nursing Extern to assist with patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The extern’s duties are limited to the scope of unlicensed providers under a licensed nurse's direction, with responsibilities in data collection and lab specimen handling.

Requirements include enrollment in an accredited nursing program, a high school diploma, and completion of key nursing courses.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Must have completed Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration in Nursing School.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Support Nursing department with data collection and lab specimen collection.
• Perform selected technical skills and other duties within scope.
• May have additional duties assigned within the role's scope.
