Job summary

Tenet Healthcare seeks a nursing extern to support basic and intermediate nursing care across units. You will assist in assessments, planning, and documentation under supervision, contributing to patient comfort and safety.

The role requires active enrollment in a nursing program, completion of a basic skills lab, and CPR/BLS with NVCI training within 60 days for ED or Behavioral Health areas. This is an on-site extern position with shift options.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited RN program and entering final practicum.
• Basic clinical skills lab completed; skills checklist may validate experience.
• Active BLS CPR required; NVCI training within 60 days if in ED/Behavioral Health area.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing basic and intermediate nursing care under supervision.
• Assist in patient assessments across physical, psychological, and social dimensions.
• Help plan and implement formal patient care plans.
• Document and evaluate nursing care per policies and standards.
• Intervene with safe techniques and report changes to RN preceptor.
• Reinforce care plan instructions to patients and families.
• Assist with non-invasive treatments per nurse extern skills.
• Notify RN team leader of patient condition changes.
