Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Nurse Extern to assist with direct and indirect patient care under supervision. The role supports activities of daily living, safety, nutrition, and selected procedures, with shift rotations as determined by the Nurse Manager.

The position is temporary, full-time at 36 hours per week for 10 weeks. Licensure requirements include AHA BLS HCP or equivalent. Prior acute care experience is preferred, with education milestones for BSN/AA programs noted.

Qualifications

• Completion of first semester junior year in a BSN program dependent upon school curriculum.
• Associate Degree and Diploma programs: completion of first year or a minimum of two semesters of basic nursing courses.
• AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care under supervision of RN, licensed independent practitioner, or manager.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and assist with inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Provide emotional support and participate in patient rounds as directed.
