Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is seeking a Nurse Extern to support a team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or supervisor. This temporary, full-time position will cover 36 hours per week for a 10-week period and involves direct and indirect patient care activities, along with safety and environmental responsibilities.

The role includes working under guidance to perform basic nursing tasks, assisting with activities of daily living, nutrition, comfort, and coordination of care

Qualifications

• Completion of first semester junior year in a BSN program or equivalent.
• Associate Degree or Diploma programs: completion of first year or two semesters of basic nursing courses.
• Licensure/certification: AHA BLS HCP or equivalent as required for hire/continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and direct patient care under supervision.
• Provide comfort, safety, nutritional support, and assist with diagnostic/therapeutic tasks as directed.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and ensure adequate inventory of supplies.

Education

BSN program – first semester junior year
