Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Nurse Education Specialist to lead orientation, in-service and continuing education for nursing staff. This role focuses on ensuring competency across units, including agency staff, with emphasis on patient-centered care and evidence-based practice.

The educator will design and deliver classroom and clinical instruction, coordinate annual competencies, and collaborate with unit leadership to support professional growth of nursing

Qualifications

• BSN or health-related bachelor required.
• MSN or related master's preferred.
• Current NC RN licensure required.
• 2–3 years Med Surg experience preferred.
• Strong teaching and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and clinical instruction for orientation for all unit nursing staff, nurse residencies and agency staff.
• Coordinate planning and presentation of formal/informal education for all nursing unit staff.
• Coordinate staff participation in all required education.
• Coordinate skills fairs for annual competencies and simulation exercises.
• Maintain education files and documentation of staff competencies.
• Identify opportunities for quality improvement through audits and observations.
• Assess unit educational needs and implement remediation with staff.
• Develop and evaluate unit goals and ensure staff competency for duties.
• Deliver in-services on evidence-based nursing practices and equipment.
• Support staff evaluations related to clinical competence for the Patient Care Manager.
• Serve as a professional role model and consultant for the unit.
• Other duties as assigned.
