Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking a Nursing Education Specialist to facilitate the educational development and growth of nursing staff, including orientation, in-service and continuing education across units. The role emphasizes patient-focused teaching and evidence-based nursing practices.

The incumbent will lead classroom and clinical instruction, develop education plans, coordinate competency assessments, and drive quality improvement initiatives within a 33-bed unit and related staff

Qualifications

Education and formal training: BSN or health-related bachelor required.
MSN or health-related master preferred.
Current RN license in North Carolina required.
Nursing certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide classroom and clinical instruction for orientation and residency programs.
Coordinate education planning and presentations for unit staff including agency staff.
Coordinate staff participation in all required education and competency checks.
Lead skills fairs and simulations to enhance nursing knowledge and competencies.
Maintain education files and documentation of staff competencies and annual checks.
Support quality improvement through audits and observations of care.
