Job summary

Cross Healthcare Services seeks a Director of Nursing to lead the nursing department for resident care, under the Executive Director. The role oversees 24-hour nursing supervision, ensures compliance with Federal, State, and company standards, and maintains high quality care while coordinating with physicians and staff.

The position requires RN licensure in Texas, extensive long-term care knowledge, and strong leadership for staff development, budgeting, and safety programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred or the equivalent in related work experience.
• Must possess a current, valid Texas State Nursing License as a registered professional nurse, in good standing.
• 3+ years of experience in nursing service administration.
• Additional education or experience in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing is preferred.
• Must possess strong knowledge of state, federal and local regulations as they pertain to long term care.
• Must be available to be on call 24 hours a day.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.

Responsibilities

• Assumes ultimate responsibility for coordinating plans for total care of each resident in line with physician orders and regulations.
• Develops and updates nursing department objectives, standards, procedures, and job descriptions for nursing personnel.
• Participates in recruitment, hiring, orientation, training and dismissal of nursing staff.
• Ensures sufficient qualified supervisory staff per unit/shift and approves staffing schedules.
• Controls nursing service hours and supplies, and recommends staffing and equipment needs.
• Oversees safe, quality nursing care and maintains resident confidentiality.
• Provides leadership and coordination with residents, families, and staff to ensure high satisfaction and compliant care.
• Maintains documentation, quality reviews, and compliance with state codes and corporate policies.
