Job summary

Lutheran Life Communities’ Luther Oaks in Illinois is seeking a Director of Nursing - Registered Nurse to lead the 19-bed skilled nursing unit. This is a hands-on leadership role with on-call rotation, reporting to the administration and collaborating with therapy, dining, resident life, and finance teams to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.

The ideal candidate holds an Illinois RN license, a nursing degree (or equivalent experience), and at least 5 years of supervisory healthcare

Qualifications

Requires Illinois RN license.
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field, or at least 4 years of long-term/geriatric nursing experience (or an equivalent combination).
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
Experience developing and implementing operational policies and procedures.
Able to understand and carry out written and spoken instructions.
Proficient with EHR systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Direct day-to-day clinical operations for the 19-bed skilled nursing unit, collaborating with therapy, culinary, resident life, maintenance, finance, and sales teams.
Lead quality assurance and risk management initiatives and track KPIs.
Serve as primary contact between residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
Manage department budgets, labor costs, supplies, and documentation systems to meet goals.
Guide survey readiness, ensure compliance, and develop corrective action plans.
Recruit, coach, and mentor clinical team members and schedule staffing based on acuity.
Provide on-call leadership support as needed.
