Responsibilities

• Directs and facilitates the flow of patient care activities for the department/area on an assigned shift.
• Develops and actualizes the department/area's goals (strategic plan).
• Coordinates patient care operations for an assigned shift.
• Provides care appropriate to age and specialty of the patient as defined by the department.
• Manages personnel and analyzes workload to meet care needs for the assigned shift.
• Promotes cost containment.
• Advocates for patients and families and upholds ethical procedures.
• Maintains positive peer and guest relations.
• Participates in quality improvement and nursing research activities.
• Functions as a leader and contributes to self and team development.
• Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
