Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, seeks a compassionate Nursing Assistant I/Health Unit Coordinator for the Abdominal Transplant Unit (6DCT). The role supports a high-acuity transplant population across the full journey from pretransplant evaluation to posttransplant recovery.

Responsibilities include patient care, data documentation in the EMR, and assisting with admissions, discharges, and transport. CNA I with NC license and BCLS are required.

Qualifications

• Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I (NA I) with the NC DHHS.
• BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by end of new hire orientation.
• Knowledge of infection control, patient care techniques, and standing/walking requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide manual assistance.
• Record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN of information collected.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care tasks.
• Support RN/LPN with clinical procedures and patient transport as needed.
• Document and communicate pertinent information using EMR systems.
• Perform clerical tasks and maintain patient charts from admission to discharge.
