Job summary

Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis is seeking a Nursing Assistant – Will-Train. The role supports the Nursing Team, assists staff nurses in patient care, and collects data to inform the assessment of physical, psychological, and social needs.

The position requires English literacy, BLS certification after training, successful completion of the hospital's Nursing Assistant program, and potential transfer to Nursing Assistant Grade S7 upon completion.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and communicate in English.
• Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Will-Train program.
• Complete the Cape Cod Hospital Nursing Assistant training program and pass the competency exam.
• Upon completion, transfer to Nursing Assistant Grade S7 (Job Code: 8003).

Responsibilities

• Participates in the nursing process during delivery of patient care.
• Assists in providing nursing care and data collection for assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions under the RN.
• Implements a formal plan of care under the direction of the RN.
• Attends at least four unit staff meetings per year and mandatory programs.
• Adheres to safety and blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
• Maintains confidentiality and represents the hospital positively.
• Delivers service excellence to patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Demonstrates proficiency in Nursing Informatics and assists in unit orientation.

Purpose of Position:

Performs as a member of the Nursing Team various duties assisting Staff Nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Description

• Participates in the nursing process during delivery of patient care.
• Assists in providing nursing care to patients and collects data for assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Participates in implementing a formal plan of care for the patient under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Participates in at least four unit staff meetings per year, attends mandatory programs.
• Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
• Assesses personal and learning development needs. Regularly updates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served.
• Represents hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters and by presenting the hospital in a manner that will best market the services provided.
• Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
• Performs other work related duties and activities as assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor.

• Demonstrates proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).
• Assists in orientation of other personnel to the unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

• Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Will-Train program
• Upon completion of the Cape Cod Hospital Nursing Assistant training program, successful passage of the Cape Cod Hospital written competency exam for Nursing Assistant
• Upon completion of the Cape Cod Hospital Nursing Assistant Training program, incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant Grade S7, Job Code: 8003
