Corewell Health's 5 Northwest Surgical Unit in Royal Oak is seeking an Observer/Nurse Assistant to provide patient care under the RN plan, assist with transport, and maintain clinical documentation on the 5NW unit.

The role is part-time night shift, 24 hours per week, with a sign-on bonus up to $1,500 and benefits eligibility; prior hospital or nursing home experience and BLS certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under RN direction.
• Safely transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher and perform dispatch duties and documentation.
• Serve as an Observer for patients requiring constant observation and document care in the EMR.

5 Northwest is a 33-bed surgical unit specializing in care of adult patients. We provide compassionate, high-quality patient and family centered care for a wide variety of surgical patients. 5 Northwest regularly cares for patients undergoing cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, peripheral vascular surgery, general surgery, and trauma work up as well as patients with Congestive Heart Failure. Our mission is to always provide our patients and their families with an exceptional experience during their stay with us on the unit. Scope of work

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
• Current CNA certification preferred
