Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a part-time Nursing Assistant on the Med Surg Care Unit at Royal Oak Hospital. The role involves working nights, typically 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with 12 hours weekly from Monday to Friday and every third weekend.

You will assist with patient care under RN direction, transport patients, and perform clerical duties as needed. The unit supports a diverse patient population across gynecology, medical, oncology, and urology services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience preferred.
• Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
• Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring.
• Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
• Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent

Nursing Assistant program completion or 1 year experience

Nursing Assistant certification preferred

Basic Life Support (AHA/ARC) required
