Job summary

Baptist Health in Elizabethtown, KY is seeking a Nursing Assistant to join the Short Stay Unit. This full-time position supports age-appropriate patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse on a 7a–7p shift.

You will obtain measurements, assist with daily activities, monitor vital signs, and ensure hourly rounds for safety and comfort. BLS within 90 days required; CNA preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents reported height and weight on admission and documents.
• Turns and positions patients every 2 hours with proper body mechanics.
• Assists and promotes activity and ambulation, including chair sits as ordered.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene including bathing, shaving, perianal care and oral care.
• Takes and records vital signs within established time frame.
• Hourly rounds are performed to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

The Nursing Assistant performs designated tasks in the provision of age-appropriate care for patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

• Obtains and documents reported height and weighs patient on admission and documents.
• Turns and positions patients every 2 hours as indicated, using proper body mechanics.
• Assists and promotes activity, ambulation, up in chair and other activities as ordered.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene, including as showering, bathing, shaving, shampooing, perianal-care, catheter care and oral care.
• Takes and records vital signs accurately within established time frame.
• Consistently performs hourly rounds to ensure patient safety and promote customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Nursing License (CNA) preferred.
• Six months experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
