Job summary

Baptist Health Lexington in Surgical Services is seeking a Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR for part-time, first-shift weekends. You will support the OR team with patient care, safe transport, aseptic technique, and basic duties under RN supervision.

The role includes assisting in procedures, participating in unit activities, and completing a 3-month weekday training schedule before moving to weekend shifts. Requires KY nurse aide certification or nursing program progress and BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• KY Nurse Aide Certification or first-year Nursing Program with clinical rotation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; if not held, obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff in providing high quality patient care.

• Demonstrate aseptic technique and follow hospital policies.

Part Time I First Shift Weekends

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.

Description Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR:

• At the direction of management and/or nursing personnel, assists the hospital staff/department in the provision of high quality, safe patient care
• Provides basic physical care of the patient.
• Demonstrates safe patient transport with stretcher, wheelchairs, and patient beds.
• Performs tasks and procedures as directed according to hospital policy and procedure.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique.
• Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
• Actively participates in unit activities.
• Aid in Surgical Procedures and certain basic circulating functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room.
• Training Schedule- Monday-Friday (6:30am-3:30pm) for 3 months; transition to weekend schedule after training.

Requirements Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR:

• High School Diploma and/or Equivalent.
• Current KY Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completions of first year of Nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
