Job summary

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services is seeking a Surgical Tech-OR to join our operating room team in Lexington, KY. This full-time, first-shift position supports perioperative care under the supervision of a registered nurse and participates in aseptic technique and sterile processing.

Qualified candidates have a Surgical Technology program credential (technical diploma or associate degree) and BLS certification. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified individuals.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma or Associate degree in Surgical Technology.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; if not certified, obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse. Performs scrub functions and supports the perioperative plan of care.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique including gowning, gloving, sterilization, and disinfection.
• Actively participates in unit activities.
• Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
• On call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation.

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.

Description Surgical Tech-OR:

• Functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse. Performs scrub functions and other roles, which support the perioperative plan of care Demonstrates knowledge of operative procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique including but not limited to gowning, gloving sterilization, and disinfection.
• Actively participates in unit activities.
• Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
• On call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation.

Requirements Surgical Tech-OR:

• Technical Diploma; Associate degree. (Surgical Tech Program)
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
