Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Hines, IL seeks a Nursing Assistant to join the care team. Under supervision of RNs, LPNs, and experienced NAs, you perform activities of daily living and support the treatment plan in the Community Living Center, Acute Rehabilitation Unit, and Blind Rehabilitation Unit.

This role emphasizes patient safety and teamwork. This position requires flexibility for weekend and night shifts, with ongoing training and opportunities for advancement within the VA

Qualifications

• GS-3/GS-5 qualification track with basic nursing care knowledge.
• Experience or education demonstrating nursing assistant capabilities.
• Ability to practice under supervision and comply with standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain therapeutic relationship and respect patient dignity.
• Observe and report patient status to care team.
• Perform basic nursing tasks under supervision and assist with activities of daily living.
• Assist with group activities and escort patients as needed.
• Ensure safety and proper use of equipment.
