Essentia Health - Fargo Surgery Unit is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. You will help with hygiene, nutrition, comfort, vital signs, and safe transfers while maintaining a clean and safe environment. The role supports patient flow and room turnover.

This position offers 8-hour shifts, daytime hours, and a Monday–Friday schedule with no weekend or holiday work. BLS is required within 3 months; CNAs preferred or eligible for ND Health registration.

Qualifications

Job Description:

Essentia Health - Fargo Surgery Unit is hiring a Nursing Assistant. This position is 8 hour shifts, 10:30am-7:30pm, Monday-Friday, no weekend or holiday.

Education Qualifications:

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to: Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care and other assistance, appropriately and safely transferring patients, taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

The OR nursing assistant is responsiblefor transportation of patients, room turnovers & set ups, positioning assistance, specimen transport, and ordering/stocking items in the clean utility.

This position requires the ability to work the following schedule:

• 40 hours per week
• 8 hour shifts, 10:30am-7:00pm
• Monday-Friday
• No weekends or holidays.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
• Certified Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health preferred. If not certified as a Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within 3 months from date of employment.
