Job description

Job Overview:

Provides basic, direct patient care, considering specific needs related to patient age. Assumes responsibility for patient care and functions as a member of the healthcare team, following the guidance of a Registered Nurse. All care complies with department policies, procedures, and Standards of Care.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma
• BLS Certification through American Heart Association
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Effective communication and basic math skills
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

• Previous Nursing Assistant experience, or
• Completion of two Registered Nurse clinical courses, or
• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program

Certifications and Licenses:

• BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

• Days: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• Every other weekend required; weekday schedule varies based on department needs
• Part-Time (22.5 hours)
• Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:

• Participates in patient needs assessment and communicates with the healthcare team
• Assists in staff, patient, and family education within personal knowledge limits
• Engages in unit Quality Improvement activities
• Provides age-specific care based on understanding of growth and development principles
