Job summary

Inova Specialty Hospital in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) for full-time days. You will provide basic patient care, assist with bathing, oral hygiene, and mobility, and support transport of patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) is required.
• BLS/CPR training must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with bathing, oral hygiene, and basic comfort needs.
• Support hourly rounds and monitor patient conditions.
• Transport patients to treatment areas and assist with moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms and equipment; restock supplies as directed.

• Perform services for patients including bathing using basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding and care of hair
• Participate in hourly rounds
• Transport patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs
• Maintain the cleanliness of various instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals and wheelchairs
• Keep patients’ rooms in clean and orderly condition
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED OR relevant work experience (3+ years)
• BLS is required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, certification as a nursing assistant or experience in a related field (i.e. medical assistant, actively enrolled RN student)
