Job summary

UCI Health in Orange County seeks a Nursing Assistant to support nursing staff by taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene and elimination, and maintaining a safe patient care environment on the unit.

This role requires basic medical terminology knowledge, ability to work varied shifts, English fluency, and to obtain or hold CNA/LVN certification with BLS. Prior patient care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess CNA certification are not required to obtain it at this time.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be CNA, LVN, or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA).

• Taking and recording vital signs.
• Assisting patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintaining a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stocking unit supplies.
• Operating hospital equipment as directed.
• Performing routine clerical tasks.
• Assisting with other related duties as assigned.
