Job summary

Essentia Health’s St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior, WI is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision.

You will assist with personal hygiene, nutrition, vital signs, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients. The role offers rotating 8-hour shifts across day, evening, and overnight blocks through a 0.6 FTE schedule, with a 48-hour work period every two weeks and every-other weekend.

Education Qualifications

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to:

• Providing personal hygiene care
• Assisting with nutritional needs
• Providing comfort care and other assistance
• Appropriately and safely transferring patients
• Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping
• Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN
• Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process

Shift Rotation & Hours

This position will work the following: 48 hours per 2 weeks, Every Other Weekend.

Rotating 8 Hour Shifts

Day Shift: 6:00AM - 2:30PM

Evening Shift: 2:00PM - 10:30PM

Overnight Shift: 10:00PM - 6:30AM

Licensure & Certification Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
• Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program or current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
