Job summary

UNC Health Nash seeks a dedicated Nursing Assistant I to support patient care across Nash Counties. Under RN or physician supervision, you’ll assist with examinations, patient comfort, and basic daily living activities in a hospital clinic or home health setting.

This part-time, on-site role requires a High School diploma or GED, NC Nursing Assistant I licensure, and BLS certification, with at least six months of relevant experience and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Nursing Assistant I licensure by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Six months of relevant nursing assistant experience, including NA course.
• Fluent in verbal and written English and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procurement of equipment and supplies during emergencies.
• In psychiatric settings, aid patients in reality orientation and participate in behavior modification plans; provide informal support and de-escalation.
• Observe, collect, and document patient information, reporting significant changes to a nurse or physician.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care/treatments per plan of care including vital signs, specimen collection, wound care, ROM exercises, and related activities.
• Provide direct personal care for daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation assistance.
• Perform indirect care tasks: cleaning, restocking, transporting, orienting new staff, and routine clerical duties.
• Reinforce and document patient education, and distribute materials as requested.
