Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to provide routine direct and indirect patient care in the Rex Heart and Vascular Hospital unit, under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.

This full-time, night-shift role offers 36 hours per week onsite, with a salary range of $18.00–$24.66 per hour. Licensure as Nursing Assistant I (NC DHHS) and BLS are required; six months of CNA experience is preferred, with basic English and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Nursing Assistant I license (NC DHHS).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Prefer six months of nursing assistant experience.
• Fluent in English and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with routine exams and procedures and gather equipment during emergencies.
• Support patients in psychiatric settings with orientation, therapy and safety needs.
• Observe, document patient information and report changes to the nurse or physician.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation and discharge.
• Provide care per plan of care: vital signs, measurements, specimens, wound care, catheter care, glucose checks, ROM.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility).
• Indirect care: clean the work area, restock supplies, transport, orient new staff, and perform light clerical tasks.
• Reinforce patient teaching and distribute educational materials.
