Job summary

UNC REX Healthcare in Raleigh, NC is hiring a Nursing Assistant I to provide routine direct and indirect patient care under supervision. The role supports the Cardiac Unit in a 36-hour work week, onsite, with responsibilities ranging from basic patient care to assisting with examinations and procedures.

Preferred six months of nursing assistant experience and a current BLS certification; Education requirements state none, but NC Nursing Assistant I licensure is listed.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Able to develop basic computer skills.
• BLS certification required; Nursing Assistant I licensure preferred.
• Six months of nursing assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures.
• Provide patient care under RN/physician supervision.
• Observe, document and report changes in patient condition promptly.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation and discharge.
• Care for patients per plan of care: vital signs, specimen collection, wound care, glucose checks, ROM exercises, postural drainage.
• Provide personal care for activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation).
• Maintain clean and stocked work areas; assist with orientation of new staff.
• Reinforce patient teaching and distribute education materials.
