Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to deliver routine direct and indirect patient care under supervision. The role supports an Acute Care unit with a 36-hour work week and day schedule, working onsite at Rex 7 East.

Qualified applicants will be licensed Nursing Assistant I in NC with BLS, English fluency, and basic computer skills; six months of nursing assistant experience is preferred. A Nursing Support Incentive Program offers up to $5,000 over two years.

Qualifications

• Licensed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina DHHS
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Fluent in English and able to develop basic computer skills
• Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procure equipment and supplies during emergencies
• In psychiatric settings, aid patients in reality orientation and behavior modification, provide informal support, de-escalate aggression, and monitor milieu activities
• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report significant changes to a nurse or physician
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge
• Provide care/treatments per plan of care including vital signs, etc.
• Provide direct personal care for activities of daily living
• Perform indirect care duties like cleaning, restocking, transporting, and orienting new staff
• Reinforce and document patient education and distribute materials
